AkzoNobel Excursion
Hello! The LEC organizes an excursion to AkzoNobel. This company is well known in the Netherlands as it is a Dutch multinational company with establishments in more than 80 countries. AkzoNobel specializes in paint and coating production. In order to optimize this process, the company uses catalysts. Since the Bachelor offers several courses about catalysis, we think this is a great opportunity to discover an implication of catalysts.
The excursion will take place on Tuesday, the 3 rd of December and it will happen from 15:00 until 17:00. We will go the one of the establishments of AkzoNobel which is located in Sassenheim (Rijksstraatweg 31, 2171 AJ Sassenheim). Dr. Jitte Flapper (technology manager) will give a presentation in which he will give us an introduction about AkzoNobel and paint chemistry. Which problems and requirements are present when working with paintings and how does AkzoNobel solve the problems? Jitte will give us some insight about this kind of questions.
The excursion is organized in collaboration with prof. dr. Bas de Bruin which gives the course ‘inorganic chemistry’. The course is given in the 2 nd year of the Bachelor. Therefore, the 2 nd year students have priority over other (Bsc/Msc/Phd) students. Fortunately, we think there are enough places available so do not hesitate to register if you are interested in the excursion!
